...but then I see you're Canadian. I asked my local dealer how to switch to celsius, and after great long conference with the head mechanic, they said it wasn't possible. Thanks for the great tip, and post any other good secret ones you have.
From a fellow Canuck in California.

: This is how it works on my 97 528i:
: 1) insert your key
: 2) press the trip odometer reset botton and don't let go (the odometer should light up)
: 3) turn your key to position 1 (ie. first position, your onboard computer should light up)
: 4) turn your key back to position 0 (while keep pressing the reset button)
: 5) turn your key again to position 1 and now the outside temp should be in F)

: you can repeat the procedure get it back in celsius.
