Long Distance Driving in a 5 series (archive)

While this is most likely something that 5 series owners don't want to hear ...

I recently went on a 5 hour drive in my new 523. While it is a 523, it is an individual series with premium seats with nappa leather. IMHO, ride comfort is seriously worse than in a E-class mercedes. After adjusting the seats numerous times I could not get in a position that was comfortable for a long period of time. I've never had this problem when driving my Eclass from SF to LA.
Any other owners who have drove both cars feel the same way?
