Seats are about the most individual feature of any BMW. We should be thankful that there are some options to choose from as opposed to one take-it-or-leave-it seat. There is no substitute for spending several hours in each type of seat BMW offers and then selecting based on YOUR reaction. This is very time consuming and requires a fair amount of dealer cooperation. However, the end result (no pun intended) will be the best level of comfort and satisfaction with your final seating choice.

I went through this process before ordering my '00 540iA Sport and decided on the Comfort seats. My ideal seat would have been Comfort seats with forward extendable thigh support as in the Sport seat. I have found on numerous 800 mile days that the Comfort seats are fine as long as I follow the following plan: Always stop after 2 hours for some excersize and stretching; Later in the day, use the low setting of seat heat to minimize backache; Vary seat position several times during the day. This works for me, hopefully it will for you too.
