I got the Alpine from www.circlebmw.com for around $400 with mounting kit, and it works great with very little skipping (major bumps only). I had the same experience with the instruction sheets. They were truly confounding, where the parts didn't match and a side bracket appeared to be missing, however just installing it the intuitive way works fine. I would recommend Circle.
