Center Console power source (archive)

Taking clues from a thread on this board from the end of March, I tried yesterday to find a power source in the center console that I can use for my phone. No luck, however, as I was unable to get in under the small compartment with the sliding door, where it had been suggested to look.

Does anyone have any advice in how to get at this area, and also which wire(s) I should (and should not) tap into? Many thanks,
