: Considering that tuners have obtained nearly this level of power from the 1.8L four-cylinder A4 motors without disintegrating them, I wouldn't sweat reliability issues. Besides, with that much power underfoot, I really wouldn't get too many opportunities for full throttle; the new 911 turbo will hit 0-60 in under four seconds with 450 hp...there aren't enough roads in this area for that kind of sprint...

Aha, you drop compression to 7.5-8 and blow 20-24 boost - bottom end needs to be modified, heads, cams and so on. European Car magasine had a review of 1.8 motor quite some time ago. For 15-17K I can have 550+ hp 7.5 boost 4.4 whcih would last for 100K miles easily. I thougt you were talking about money factor here, did you not ? Now think about it, 550+ hp on 3450 dry curb weight car. Audi, where are you ?

Stepan.
