Some interesting LoJack statistics... (archive)

As many of you know, the SoCal Audi TT Club has arraigned a LoJack group buy. Our price is $395 installed, which is $200 off the usual price of $595. This price is good regardless of where you live, and you don't even have to own an Audi.

LoJack sent me some interesting statistics regarding their theft recovery system. Here are some of them.

First some national statistics:

Vehicles recovered in the USA by LoJack: Approximately 30,000.

Overall recovery rate: 93%.

Percent recovered with no stripping damage: 70%

Here's some California statistics:

Vehicles recovered with NO damage: 48%

Vehicles recovered with entry/ignition damage only: 22%

Vehicles recovered with minor damage only: 23%

Total LoJack vehicles recovered with little or no damage: 93%

Overall arrest rate: 25%

Overall LoJack recovery rate: 96%

Recoveries within 2 hours of activation: 44%

Recoveries within 8 hours of activation: 70%

Record recovery time: 2 minutes

Number of auto theft rings/chop shops uncovered: 118

Some discounts offered by major insurance companies if your car is equipped with LoJack:

1. 20th Century: 12%-15% off comprehensive.
2. AAA: 16%-18%.
3. AIG: Up to 15%
4. Fireman's Fund: Up to 15%
5. Hanover: Check with local office.
6. Kemper: Up to 10%.
7. Liberty Mutual: 25%.
8. Mercury: Up to 15%.
9. Prudential: 5%.
10. USAA: 15%-19%.
11. Wawanesa: 15%.
