It doesn't really improve acceleration (I think it makes a .1 sec difference), but it does allow you to sometimes rev the engine higher than a standard auto and hold a gear. It's nice to hold a gear when going around a sharp turn. I have, on more than one occasion, been driving "spiritedly" and when going into a turn have the auto trans. shift gears. The slight lurch from the shifting can upset the balance of the car, albeit for a very brief time. Anyhow, just my 2 and a half cents. =)

: : Also how is the 540 automatic? does it have steptronic?

: It still acts like an automatic, it still feels like an automatic, its automatic shift quality isn't any different than the non-Steptronic automatics.
