However, no need to have the black wire showing coming out of the sunroof panel. From inside the panel, you can fish the wire out the front so the wire comes out by the windshield, once its out, pull enough length and then neatly tuck it up between the headliner and windshield, run along top of windshield then down pillar and then down behind dash. Wire will not be visible anywhere.
I have my Escort Passport on the very left hand side of the dash held in place with velcro. Granted, you lose a little range, by having it mounted lower on the dash, but...
Any detector hanging on a visor or the windshield is just tempting fate with the cops or crooks. They can see it from behind, wether its flashing or not. With mine, on the left side of the dash, the passenger in my car cannot see it. No one can see it from behind and there is nothing hanging on the windshield to tempt thieves and from outside the car, its hardly noticeable, because the pillar blocks it. Also, no interference with the sun visor and nothing to bang your head on in an accident.
I'm open to better ideas, but this works for me.
: I've included a couple of (hopefully) helpful V1 installation URL's below.
: Also, truly "remoting" a V1 is a bit counterproductive since one of the key allures of that product is the directional sensing (front, side, or rear). You would lose this by hiding the detector.

: : Anyone on the E39 board installed a BMW digital phone? My car is a 2000 540 - the phone was not avail when the car was delivered last October. I'd like to buy and install the phone myself, having already experienced the local dealer's capabilities.
: : My last BMW (7 series) had a remote detector (BEL 635), with the control head mounted in the ash tray, and the detector head behind the grille. This was really clean and stealthy, but the detector "false alarmed" a little too much. I checked with Valentine, but their unit can only be hard wired, not truly remoted. Any ideas or recommendations?
