: Gee Frank...is it at all possible that Toyota could make a good car? I think BMW is fully aware that Lexus (Toyota)has plans to make an "M" class car to go against the M5 and the E55 MB sometime late next year. Toyota does pretty good in anything they had tried so far. They are not a BWM..and they have not tried to be. I think the best thing that can happen is that they enter the high performance arena. The more competition there is, the better and cheaper the cars tend to get. Lexus made Mercedes clean up their act when they released the LS400 back around the end of '90. Who's to say that if Lexus enters the "luxury sport" segment that the BMW drivers and buyers won't benefit from the improvements that BMW will have to make in service and features. So far the Japanese have accomplished great in roads in almost every segment they have tried. Don't think it won't give BMW a run for the money in a few years if Toyota wants to push it. It might be the best thing to every happen to BMW. Good for us. Heck, the best thing that ever happened in the CPU segment of the computer business is the fact that AMD is pushing Intel to make fast and cheaper chip that WE ALL get to benefit from.
