: Replaced the stock Continentals with Yokohama AVS dB (ultra high performance all season tires). I am very happy with them as they seem superior to the conti's in every regard. The Yokohama's are are rated to 168 MPH and designed to maximize quietness & comfort (the "dB" in the model name means decibels). This compared to the continentals that are rated to 130MPH and often humm. Cornering with the Yokohama's also feels strong.
: I ordered online from tirerack.com ($106 each) for the first time and it was an excellent experience. Two days later, Fed Ex was backing into the driveway with 5 fresh tires.
: Aside from the quieter ride, it is a liberating feeling to now have a 540 without a speed limiter and tires to match. Not that I plan to drive over 130MPH, but it makes me that much prouder of the 540 because when I step into it I feel I now have the whole car the way it was designed versus two thirds of it.
: Summary: take a look at the Yokohama AVS dB & tirerack the next time you go for tires.
You know that many 540/6 come with Dunlop 2000. As a result of favorable writeups, I've been consdiering various Yokos. Querry....how about the handling/turn in, etc. with the dBs? I know you can't compare them to the Dunlops, but what's your subjective sense about them?
