: The temperature reading on my dash is sometimes off by +5 degrees Celsius. Is there a way to reset it to get a new reading? If not how do I change the temperature sensor and where do I find it?

: Is my understanding correct that the temp sensor for the dash display is defferent from the engine, aircon and computer box temperature sensors?

Yes it is a totally different sensor - located in a plastic panel on the underside of the car - just behind the passenger side fog light.

But - before you change it there may not be a problem.

Remember that sensor reads the temperature just above the road surface at the very front of you car, and that can often be very different than what is being displayed by a sign beside the highway, or what the radio is reporting for the day.

It also depends on whether you are driving (getting new air across the sensor) or stuck in stop and go traffic with lots of idling exhausts.

You can not "reset" your unit to a different temperature. But if you suspect a poor connection you can unplug it and then put it back again. If you do that then the system will "re-calibrate" itself. You will first see a reading about -40c, and it can take as long as 1/2 hour (with the system on) for the temp to come back to the correct reading.

Cheers
