Are they diagnosing the clogged oil passages on newer engines or, unfortunately, those that are out of warranty? Also, what is the remedy for a clogged oil passage and how does it manifest itself?
:
: According to the current issue of the Roundel, they are seeing problems with the extended oil changes. Clogged oil passages. I chaged mine twice before the yellow light came on at 17,500 miles.

: : I have 9000 miles on my 2000 540 and have yet to have my first oil change. According to the service light, I am schedule for my first at ~15000. Do you follow the BMW computer recommendation or get it done more frequently -- every 7500 miles? The recent concern about the faulty filters has me a bit concerned.

: : The extended period between the oil changes is very convenient -- but I don't want to sacrifice the life of my car.
