However, given that the vast majority of BMW CD-changer owners have no issues, I would lean toward the conclusion that it's not the CD-changer at fault here.
A couple of things to consider (they may be insultingly obvious - deal with it):
* Do you have the proper CD-changer installed (I believe there was a change in the last couple of years)?
* Are your CD's scratched?
* Is your trunk a dirty environment (i.e. if you toss your softball gear in the trunk there will be lots of dust and dirt getting into the CD changer)?
* Is the CD-changer installed correctly?
* How is you rear tire pressure?

: 98 540ia-40k mi--i am on my 3rd replacement cd changer-the first two would not recognize some discs or all discs-the new(factory reconditioned piece of $%#* skips at every slight bump in the road(car has stock suspension-not sport)-this is getting old real fast-is there any aftermarket cd changer which will work with steering wheel controls like the factory changer??????--please comment--thanks in advance--best rgds chris
