Based on the pics on your site, I like the 800 and 400 foot scale maps on the stock NAV unit in the E39 much better.

Also, like the MB NAV unit, it covers up part of the vents while in use. But to each his own and I'm sure there are many reasons people would like this NAV unit much better than the stock NAV unit.

My only question is, your site says you never need to buy any more discs. If there are no need for further updated CDs, how do the maps get updated? Is there some wireless download technology? Streets and even highways around where I live change fast enough that the twice a year Navtech CD subscription updates are a must.


: Here's a really superb story with photos on Alpine's state of the art installation in a 5-series, an M5 I believe.

: Looks good, somewhat pricey, but much better that factory nav system.
