: On several occasions I've found the driver or passenger side windows to not be in the fully up position. I'm sure I didn't lower them. Any ideas?
: Another issue is a clunk from the seat frame area when I go around a corner relatively quickly. It can happen on a right- or left-hand turn. After the first turn, it only happens again on a turn in the opposite directions. Any suggestions would be welcome.
: The car is a 2000 528i without the sport package.

The windows being down is indeed caused when you open the door. But it is NOT because you held the button down too long.

There is a bulletin on this item. It is a logic fault in the "general module". When you unlock the doors in 2 stages it is an issue of timing between the tow pushes of the button. If the second push occurs in the range of 1.4 - 1.6 seconds (I am going by memory on the exact timing) then the windows will just start to drop.

To fix this they need to replace the general module (new hardware version) and since that is expensive they will only do it if this is causing you a majour concern.

Regarding the seat clunk on corners it is not the rails.

It is one of 2 items.

There are 4 bushings where the seat attaches to the rails. These bushing go dry and then when they move a bit they will give a clicking sound.

BUT - if you are feeling a slight sideways movement in the seatback, as well as that clunk, on turns then that is a different issue.
YOu need to have plastic shims installed on the arms where the seatback slides onto the mounting arms that come up from the seat bottom.

The part is called a "sliding jaw" (54 12 8 105 582). To the best of my knowledge this applies to all versions of the seats.

Seems to me both these issues have been covered before - may be more info in the archives.

Cheers
