I have a 97 540ia. Pedal just didn't feel as smooth as before. Archives say lubricate or replace throttle cable. Had the dealer look at during last service and they said they "adjusted accelerator pedal". Well it didn't do much. So just this morning, I was on my hands and knees looking at the accelerator pedal. Check it out and you will see a pivot point that attaches accelerator pedal to linkage. Clean off pivot point and then apply a few drops of oil. It works very smoothly now. Crevier BMW, I'm doing your job for you.
