Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Polish you used is not a WAX, in fact it does not PROTECT your paint at all. Polish is an abrasive material designed to remove a very thin layer of clear coat or paint in order to bring back luster (2-3 year old paint jobs...)
You should never use a Polish on a 1-2 year old paint job unless it has oxidation.
Wax will provide a thin layer between the elements and your clearcoat/paint surface. This is what protects your paint, not Polish.
So if you polished it up, be sure to get some nice wax on there. I have ALWAYS used Meguiars GOLD CLASS Liquid Wax ($9.99 at Target) and its super, takes about 30-40 minutes to do the whole car, then do it at LEAST ever 3-4 months to keep a nice thin layer of wax on the car.
