Thinking of purchasing a 540i 6 Need info. (archive)

Does the 540i have the same oil consumption rate as the M5?
Does the 540i use the same $8.00 per qt 10W-60 oil as the M5?

I test drove a 540i 6 for ten minutes. The transmission seems very stiff. I am not sure if that was because the vehicle was parked for weeks or even months at the dealer or if that is the way the tranny is suppose to feel. I am a vetran mannual driver and my opinion of the stifness is relative to many mannual trans that I have driven. The Japanese are very smooth.

Any help would be greatly appreaciated.
