Although I would agree that a turbo is a "cheap" way to increase performance and it is not very good for the engine, the numbers speak from themselves, for example,

Volvo S80 2.9 liter engine
Horsepower 197/6000
Torque 207/4200 (almost like 528)

Volvo S80 2.8 liter engine twin turbo etc
Horsepower 268/6000
Torque 280/2100 (almost like 540)
