I also have a '00 528i and have had the steering
wheel problem since day one. I took it back to
the dealer and they gave me the look like, " Oh
here is another 'stupid' BMW owner that doesn't
know how to read the owners manual or watch the
video"

After taking the sevice manager outside to show
her the problem, she reacted like she really didn't know how the wheel should act, and could
not confirm if I had a problem or not.....
What's wrong with BMW dealers, service people,
and salesmen not knowing what they sell????

Sorry for the venting, any way thanks to this
site I was able to find out the problem. It seems
that '00 528i especially built around Feb. '00
have a BAD software module to control the steering
wheel feature. Your car is probably like mine and
has a #10 or #11 module, the answer is to get your
dealer to order and install the #12 module.

I am waiting for mine to arrive, I hope it works.
I'll post the results.
