Stereo / Phone amplification question... (archive)

I am about to replace the front speakers in my standard audio system'ed car and want to keep the funcionality of the factory cell phone. I am going to be tapping into the factory harness at the rear of the car before the amp. If I disconnect the low-level input to the amp, will the factory cell phone still come through the front speakers (I will be rewiring the second lead from the front woofer to the midrange speaker).

In other words, does the cell phone have its own amp, or does it rely upon the amp in the rear of the car? TIA!
