: right now the 540i and 528i are my options. I have however heard rumours of a 530i due out for 2001. I am wondering if this is in any way an accurate rumour. The 528 is a little underpowered for me and the 540 is quite a jump in price. A 530i souns nice as I would guess it would produce over 200hp and even more torque.
: I await your replies!!

The 530i model replaces the 528i efective September, 2000. The enlarged M54B30 engine produces 225 hp and 216 ftlbs torque for the US market. The important fact about the torque of this engine, is that it makes good torque from about 1800 RPM, the same as the 2.8 engine did at 3500 RPM. The MSRP is rumored to have gone up by $500.00US, with some minor optional items standard now. But, I don't know which ones.
