I forget the guy I talked to, but it wasn't Louie or Chi(sp?). I was asking ab the M5 dif and asked while I was at it ab the 528i's 4.10 (from the auto- 5 spd is 2.98?, I think).

According to the guy I talked to, the drive shaft is different coming from the 528's than the 540's. He says it wouldn't work. He said the same thing ab the M5 dif. Something ab the driveshaft being longer or something. Said he's got a guy in Chicago trying it with some difficulty. I assume that's the guy who posted here a week or so ago.

In any case, he said the driveshafts for both the M5 and the 528 are different part numbers, and did not appear to be compatible with the 540's.

Comments from anyone who's tried it?
