: I'm on my second dark E39 (first was a 1997 aubergine/aubergine 528; second is a 2000 black/black 540). I'd suggest the shades, as they reduce the heat in the car when you leave it parked in the sun. At $350, it's a good deal.
: I'd also recommend the nav system for all the reasons we've talked about before, plus one more -- it includes the parked-car ventilation system and the full on-board computer.
: I'd also suggest the park distance control (PDC). It's a terrific help when you're parking or backing up -- it has saved my rear bumper more than once. And anything that can help you avoid kids or their toys where you can't see them has got to be worth a few hundred bucks.
PDC is $350 (rear only). There are rumors that front and rear PDC will be optional on 2001 E39 in US. If that is the case, the price of PDC will be bumped up to $900 (that is the price of the PDC on the E38 7 Series (which is front and rear).
