I bought a new 325 way back in 1987. I was also told not to change the oil until all of the green lights went out. I had the car over a year and still had a green light or two. When I checked the oil level, it was black on the dip stick. I decided to change it no matter what the green lights did. In the military, an old Army sergeant in charge of the motor pool used to say that if you changed your oil every three months or 3000 miles, your engine would last forever. I paid about 50 large for my 00 528. I'm changing the oil just like the Sarge said. I can afford an oil change every three months.
