I'll throw in a dissenting vote on this, as long as you're talking about Royal Red. This name is a bit of a misnomer, because it's actually halfway between burgundy and mahogany - at least to my eyes. With the grey interior it looks rich without being excessively sedate.

It also has the advantage of being less often seen - I think the silver/white/black choices are just too common. After all, what's the point of buying an exclusive car if it looks just like everyone else's exclusive car? :-)

When it comes to a bright red, I don't think I'd like it on a 540, though both my Honda Civics have been that colour. For me it works better on smaller cars like Civics or Ferraris.
