In Reply to: FYI, drive and half shaft U-joints are different posted by in M5 and 540. STT on July 07, 2000 at 13:04:54:

: : Steve Dinan's 97 540i is completely supercharged, and he has a new M5 in his shop. He told me on the phone yesterday that his supercharged 540i is quite a bit faster than the M5. Add the stage III suspension to that, and you have a better performing car. Structural integrity of both cars is the same, axle is the same, U-joints are the same, etc. I guess all I'll really need now is the G-force oil pan sump pump.

: : You either like Dinan or you don't. I'm really happy with them after being a customer. You're unhappy with them, I'm assuming, after never trying their products. Dinan has an excellent reputation for their tuning, and I'm not sure why you're reducing it to a hack job racing shop. They have been in several BMW magazines, and are so famous that their badges are being auctioned off by greedy individuals on ebay for $380.00.

: : : I'm not anti-Dinan, I just think and know the M5 will stomp a supercharged 540i. Drive one and then you will understand. Why wait for Dinan when ERT has had a kit out for 3 years? You are getting the same parts and the GIAC software, which is far superior to anything coming out of Dinan.
: : : My 2 cents.
: : : Why not also look into Mosselmann, which is a far larger company than Dinan? They are producing a kit for the 4.4 litre now.
