In theory.. a supercharger is cool because it's there "all the time". With nitrous, you've only got the power until the bottle runs out.

As far as which one is safer or more dangerous, it's pretty much a wash. A 75 shot on the 4.4 V8 should be fine. A 150 shot and you're asking for trouble.

My point was that you could install a nitrous system for less than $1000 as opposed to spending massive bux on the proposed Dinan kit. Both choices carry some risk. Different strokes for different folks.

One other thing about superchargers, notably the centrifugal type such as Vortech, Powerdyne, etc. They offer almost NO TORQUE boost at all unless your foot is to the floor and the motor is already turning 3500 RPM. The amount of boost they produce is proportional to the square of RPM; ie, you only get the full 6psi of boost when you're at redline. Nitrous, on the other hand, gives you massive torque at any RPM. Just push the button and hang on. A centrifugal blower does almost nothing to improve the car's driveability.
