I'm in the same boat as you are. I called BMW support and they faxed me the installation sheets from the manual which is exact how I did it. I have a '98 and I thought it might have to do with the retro-fit cable needed for 97-98 models.

I'll let you know if i get anywhere.

: Well, I couldn't wait to have the CPT7k installed on my new 528, so I tackled the job myself. And it works...mostly.

: Everything works except the steering wheel controls do not work. the answer/call button works, but the rest do nothing. to switch to Phone mode from music, I have to reach over and hit the button on the MID. Same with scrolling through names in my phone book. the steering wheel again has no effect there. Volume works ok.

: Any hints?

: Also, how critical is the antenna? I don't feel like pulling the headliner down to fish out the antenna cable that's hidden up there. Reception seems OK without it. not great, but OK.

: Thanks in advance,
: BM
