current 540s utilize the silicon impregnated cylinder walls previously only used on 12 cyl. engines. Optimizes cylinder wall lubrication by holding oil in the valleys around the silcon crystals. Boob jobs and cylinder walls--amazing stuff.

: My understanding from reading the archives is that the V8 failures of mid 90's in engines with Nikasil were corrected by using Alusil. Any long term results to determine if this fixed the problem? Do new 4.4l V8's have cast iron sleeves?
