See our Lemon Suit posts dated 4 July 00 below.

We have a 98 540ia manufactured in Oct 97.

This is one of our problems!

There is a Technical Bulletin on this subject. It was enacted on our car. It involves replacing both servo motors on the steering column.

The problem you experience is preliminary for what is to come.

Someday when you open your door and push a memory button things will not happen.

Or they happen in ways you do not expect, ie wheel extends and seat moves up and closer to the wheel, mirrors move down and such. etc etc

As you are driving down the freeway the seat starts moving by itself until you are squished against the steering wheel.

There is a recall notice on this but it does not always fix the problem completely.

Hope this helps.
