My car was built in late March, I picked it up in early April in Munich for my Euro-delivery, and it hit US land in mid-May. Subtracting the one week in which I drove it around Europe, the car still took 2+ months to get to me.
: : Also would decline window tinting (many dealers will only use the very light tint, for liability I suppose) if their price is > $200. They may not have wax, as I've heard you need to let the paint cure for a few months prior to waxing. All the more reason not to let them apply a paint sealant, paint needs to breathe. A brand new car can be waxed in less than an hour with very little effort, as the paint is so clean. Don't let em strong arm you. It's all profit.
: : : Taking delivery of my '00 540ia orient blue/grey tomorrow!! Of course they offered all of these options to add on like paint protection, leather protection, lo-jack, etc. Do these cars really come from the factory without a coat of wax? That is what I was told which sounds ludicrous. Is this paint protection a total sham or what? They want about $600 just for the paint and say you never have to wax again. I'm very used to taking care of my paint meticulously, so I declined everything except window tint. Any comments? Thanks.
: My understanding from old posts is that new 'water-based' paints don't need to 'cure' from the factory and can be washed, waxed etc. right away. Does anybody know FOR SURE, because I would like to add the X-Pel invisible shield up front ASAP.
