Perhaps the problem is caused by static electricity buildup on the car.

I fly aircraft for a living, they all have static wicks on the trailing edges of the wing, flaps, ailerons, etc. to dissipate static.

I notice sometimes when I step out of a car I get a bit of a shock when I touch the ground - so, perhaps the car has a static charge, this, in turn, attracts dust?

Just speculation, but I have a Honeywell electronic air cleaner in my home, it uses an electrical charge to attract dust - maybe my car is sitting in my garage, doing the same thing
