I spend most of my time in Switzerland, and it is standard practice to not have "numbers" on the cars to indicate what model they are.

If you order a Mercedes product in Switzerland, you actually have to ask (by exception) if you want to have the model number put on the car.

The more expensive the car, the less likely you will see a badge on it. It's sort of a reverse snobbery.
