: Hi Len,

: Most companies run what is called a DHCP server under which any computer that connects to the network is automatically assigned an IP address from a block of IP addresses that a company leases. So yes the IP trace leads to BMW but you cannot point it to a particular computer based on an IP address because any computer within BMW can be assigned that IP address on a given day. Hardcoded IP addresses is a thing of the past.

: That said, the offending post is not an excusable thing, no matter who at BMW did this. Thanks for carrying the torch for all of us.

: : Well,
: : If you have read the posts a little further down the board here you will see that BMW made a very tasteless post directed at me and now I know who did it... her name is Ginger and she says she is an employee at BMW and even gives out her phone number.... You can tell the anon poster was a woman because of the way she made reference to "pussy ass men" at the end of her post, a guy would not have posted that. Look at the ip number captured on her first post to me which was sent under tthe name "no sympathy" and then click on the link below and look at her post from June 20th of this year... it is the same ip!!!!!

Depends on DHCP config. Leases could be set to infinite. Clients log on with same IP every day. Only if 'released' would they get a new IP in this case.
