: I actually never use it even though I change my wheels several times a year. But it would be useful if you ever had to change a wheel in a location where you are having difficulty seeing the mounting of the wheel. Or on the front wheels which rotate easily while trying to position the wheel.

Hi Jim, thanks for the p/n. If my '00 540i doesn't come with it, I will probably order one. I find it useful because (for me) it guarantees perfect alignment of wheel and hole for the first lug nut and prevents any cross-thread damage. Probably not necessary but I found it useful.
