: : What I'd like to buy is the rubber trunk mat, part number 82 26 9 405 373.
I was in same position. I was at BJ's (SAM's competitor) in Jax, Fl and saw a cargo mat of heavy rubber like the one I had in my SUV in the past with a heavy lipped edge. It was in black and grey. I bought the thing in grey and it fit great in my 98 528I..14.99...awsome deal. They are headquartered in Conn. Maybe some one can pick one up for you.
: : The Circle BMW website has it listed, but there is a footnote for the E39 sedan that says:
: : "Not applicable for vehicles with factory installed on-board navigation system, CD, cell-phone "
: : I'm not sure what this means. Will the mat fit in my trunk? I thought that the trunk shape was the same, regardless of whether the navigation system was installed. I also don't see how the CD changer makes a difference, or the cell phone.
: : I need a trunk mat, but if I order this one will it fit in my car?
: : Thanks,
: : Brad

: For clarification the part 373 is the shallow fitted mat - it is not applicable for a car with navingation but can be used with a CD changer or telephone
: There is a deep plastic box/pan part 374 - and this is the one that can be used with the CD, or tel or navigation.
: The reason is that the left side fold out panel is very different when you add the navigation - it stick out much further (because you have a lot more electronics in that corner).
: BUT
: There is another option (although no quite as nice).
: The "Universal Luggage Pan" - part 9-405-962 will fit, (but is not wall to wall) and it has panels you can use to make small compartments.
: Cheers
