Without critical changes to the stock settings, the DSP system is indeed lackluster at best. BUT, you must adjust the EQ, Room/reverb, and Treble & Bass settings before doing an audio test of any kind.

BMW would save a lot of confusion by making better stock settings for those who want a quick listen to the system.
