Have you thought of getting a "Weathertek" trunk liner. I have one that is a custon fit for the E39. Comes in black and I think it does a great job. The only problem I had was when I upgraded the stereo, the installer mounted two amplifiers and an equalizer on a custom board along the left trunk wall. The trunk liner is very tight along the left side because of this, but still protects. Costs about $80.
