: 5hp at the wheels??? No. :) That screen isn't nearly as restrictive as you think. Its purpose is to remove turbulence from the air as it passes the MAF sensor elements. This way the sensor gives a more accurate reading. I used to own a Z28 and removed the screen as an experiment. Didn't do anything. Leave it in.
You say no, BUT, I have personally done many dyno runs with cars stated above and follow many boards that report on peformance issues constantly. You may say no due to your "feeling" but it has been verified many many times. The effect would be ven greater on our cars if we are reving higher do to programming also. My screens are staying out for sure. This is a very similar discussion to many other newly discovered performance mods I have seen. Maybe someday I will get this 540 to go as fast as my 96 Impala SS 350 normally aspirated 12.95 qtr (record holder) car.
