: : Take those screens out boys! Like I said on my earlier post, those screens are way more restrictive than the GM screens and GM's are worth 5hp at the wheels, proven many times. No check engine light will come on, and I could feel more power. You guys tell me. Just like GM, it is a 5 minute, free mod, and there is power there. You will see how restrictive the screens are, especially the front one, when you take them out. I put on a cone filter instead of the airbox and am feeling way more power, I think most of it is due to the MAf screens.
: : Again, let me and the rest of the group know if it IS the screens, or my new cone filter. Hope this helps.

: Mine's a '99 540 with Bosch Mass Air Sensor. There is only 1 MAF between the air box and the sensor which consists of both a thick plastic and a thin metal screen. It is molded in place but I guess that I could cut it out by breaking the plastic welds (but it would most probably break). Anyone done this - Did it make a difference ?

97's only have 1 MAF too, but they have two screens, front and back. I am sure that is a pricey unit so if you try it, be very careful. GM guys have to cut theirs out too. They even take out an aluminum block restriction. I was suprised to see how easy the 97's came out. I am hoping we will get someone to come forward that has dyno tested this mod. GM guys are always on the dynos. Maybe I will have to step up and do it myself
