I absolutely agree. I have about 1 month & 4,000km on my 97 540iA, bought "Certified" at a BMW dealership. Awesome car!!!! I notice a few of the small problems mentioned on this board (squeaky door seals, slightly sticky throttle) which I will ask about when I take it in for my first dealer service experience.

This is my first BMW after 22 years of Volvos. It is significantly smoother & more powerful than the 87 760Turbo I have been driving for the last 11 years. (what a surprise....) I used a private mechanic for Volvo service; and I may go to him onece I get the basics out of the way via the dealer service department....

I'll update on my BMW dealer service experience once I get to it...
