is that BMW changed to an environmentally friendly paint that is far more brittle than previous paints.

My car is not yet two months old and I already have a few small nicks in the hood and the mirrors (xpel install upcoming).

Does anyone think the quality of BMW's paint is low/cheap??? Tonight, my nephew scratched my 2 weeks old, Titanium Silver 5-series with a cheap plastic toy (yeah...I know...URRRRRRGH). I saw him in the corner of my eye and stopped him, but it was too late...the entire rear quarter on the passenger side of my car was scratched. It was scratched so deeply that my fingernails dug straight into the scratches...and he did not use any strength at all!

My Topaz blue 323Ci was the same way - it had scratches all over it for some reason. My Lexus was side-swiped, leaving a line-like dent on my car, and once the black smudges were wiped off, there was absolutely NO indication of an accident. And my poor BMW, lightly "wiped" by a soft plastic toy, and the entire rear quarter is scratched!

My brother is paying for this out his pocket...his child did this as a joke & although he's a 10 year old child, he KNOWS better (he's been told right/wrong). My two questions are:

1. How much do you all think a scratch (looks like it was keyed) on almost the entire rear quater would cost to repair? My brother is cheap, but his ass is gonna pay for this one!

2. Although my nephew was wrong, do y'all think it makes sense that a child, using a soft plastic toy and no strength, should be able to scratch pain so badly as to totally dig into it? My Lexus paint would have laughed at that toy...

Oh yeah, please don't start a BMW/Lexus quality debate - I'm just comparing the two situations!

Thanx y'all,

SS
