BMW sells a folding windshield cover that fits the E39 exactly. ($50 as I recall from my dealer, although Pacific BMW probably sells it for cheaper) It cuts out the sun completely and keeps the car much cooler. It's a little bulky, but if I were parking the in sun all day, I'd use it. For short parking periods, I have one of the round folding nylon winshield covers and it works well too, although doesn't cut out as much heat as the BMW shield.

I would also suggest tinted windows.

There is a product called XPel for the front of the car. Has been many posts on this, look in the archives.

I commute 30 minutes 5 days a week to work on the freeway (5:00am, nobody on the highway; averge speed 100mph; lots of rock chips) do you guys/gals think a mask/bra will look good on a black E39? And since the car is parked outside in the sun for 9 hours at work (black on black car) what do you guys recommend, car cover (a hassle), sunshade, or dash cover? Thanks a head of time for your opinions and comments...
