Was just reading through archives and saw that there was a discussion based on the fact that BMWNA might not put the new 3.0L in a touring wagon. What type of crap is that. I dont want a X5. Forcing people to make that choice will send them to Audi or Volvo. I dont really need a 540i wagon thats just too much. A 530T would be great though. Just plain silly of BMWNA.

There will be the new 525iT for 01 model year. Thar should be fine if you thein the 540 is too much!

Respectfully disagree entirely. As in "you've got to be kidding!" 528T was just "ok"--esp with auto which was most of them; 525 variation is a step backwardeven LESS motor in a car that's 200 lbs heavier than sedan counterpart. 4.4 hardly notices the weight, and 3.0--though obviously not AS optimal--would probably do fine. Agree with original poster that 530T would be "just the ticket," esp for $--again IMHO.
