I had heard that the "Active Comfort" seats would be available (does this have a built in vibration massager?) OR that the "Comfort Sport" seats (18 way adjustable) would be available a la 740i.
Any word on this?

Several times I have asked about the comfort sport seats (18 way adjustable) becoming optional on 2001 5 Series cars with the sport and sport/premium packages. But nobody replies. The active comfort seats do have a built in vibration massager. I would love to see the 18-way
power comfort sport (BMW calls these contour seats) become available on the 5 Series, but I haven't heard anything yet.

Wouldn't count on it--would make too much sense! If we haven't heard by now, sorry to say we likely never will (proactively anyway from BMW/NA). Absence of any definitive discussion leads me to believe a definite "no." As has been said before regarding any number of things (CD/nav & perhaps cassette combo, 530T, 540T/6, M5T, killer A/C, better and more (std) colors, better this & that befitting a $50k+ car, etc.), "BMW/NA, build it and they will come," but apparently they are not listening! Took 5 production years for in-dash CD, so at this rate, 2004+ for contour seats! Great (basic) fast car, indifferent (or at best very slow) company. Peter Drucker would say it couldn't be so, but... Amazing, eh?
