Makes you wonder whether this 10K-15k oil service interval or the lifetime differential & auto trans fluid is also not in YOUR BEST INTEREST...

Everyone has an opinion on tire rotation. I think it's fine to rotate them if you want. BMW seems to shy away from rotating (although individual dealer's opinions vary) because rotating can cause vibration problems by moving uneven tire wear around. I think if your alignment if fine, rotating is fine. I would suggest that you do it frequently though so they wear evenly. If they haven't been rotated in 25,000 miles I probably wouldn't bother now.

Some have said that the cost of continuously rotating tires (assuming you have the dealer do it) offsets the advantage of getting more miles from the tires - probably some merit to that argument.

Just a quick note of thanks to all who answered my questions to this board while I researched vehicles.
Just bought a 1998 528i, Boston Green, tan leather, premium package, AT, heated seats, 24,994 miles!, for $32.9K.
I'm in the process of reading the manual, so stand by for "newbie" questions...

Here's one: The owners guide recommends against rotating the tires from front axle to back, and vice versa? What's up with that?
