I have a 98 540 with the sport suspension; 20,000 miles. I'm installing Bilstein shocks & Racing Dynamic Springs this week and am open to cutting a great deal if you choose to go this way. I've heard the labor is a big job so depending upon your budget you may wish to bypass the OEM route. Perhaps others have opinions to assist your decision. Good luck.
