The 2001 E39 you saw in the picture....... (archive)

As I understand it, they will have these changes. I am not sure how the red vehicle has the black molding but they are suppose to be color keyed to the vehicle color now. At least that is what I based my order on last week.

Here are three photos of changes to the 2001 E39 front and rear lights. Note the addition of front Park Distance Control.
Not sure if the cars shipped to North America will have these changes or not - hope so.

probably had the optional M sport package (which has the matte black molding instead of the body-color molding of other 5 Series cars). I have seen the picture too. It was an electric or imola red 530i with the M sport package. It also had the 17 inch M-parallel 5-spoke alloy wheels (similar to the optional wheels on the 540i sedan with the non M sport package). The only difference is the ones with the M sport package have the M logo. The 540i's non M sport package wheels don't have the M logo. The non M sport package still has the body-color moldings. Regular 5 Series cars without the sport package have body-color moldings with a thin chrome strip along the top of the molding. Just my $0.10 worth.
